TBC Concept Gallery unveils “Searching Together”, a joint exhibition by Georgian photographer and filmmaker David Meskhi and Berlin-based American artist Tony Just, presented by LC Queisser. The show opens on 14 November from 18:00 to 20:00 at the gallery’s Marjanishvili 7 space and will remain accessible Monday through Saturday, 10:00–20:00. Bringing together two artists with distinct approaches, the exhibition explores themes of perception, memory, and shifts in meaning through their contrasting yet harmonious visual practices.

“Being a seeker means remaining curious, observing, and questioning,” says Meskhi. “This project allowed me to reconsider how I construct images. I entered it looking for change rather than fixed outcomes. Instead of focusing on a single photograph, I selected works from various series to build a mood of unresolved tension. These athletes are taken out of their familiar setting, disconnected from their original narrative. The images are altered both digitally and by hand. It feels like walking through dim spaces toward something that hasn’t fully revealed itself – where presence and absence overlap,” he explains.

Tony Just has been based in Berlin for nearly two decades. His work has appeared in exhibitions across Europe and beyond, including several projects in Tbilisi. Between 2021 and 2022, he took part in the Propaganda residency program and taught at VA(A)DS at the Free University of Tbilisi. During this period, he presented a mural and a series of artist books at Kona Books, curated by Nina Akhvlediani, and contributed to LC Queisser’s group exhibition “Sanctuary.”

Born in 1979 in Tbilisi, David Meskhi studied photography and film at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University. Having grown up in a sports-focused family – his father was a gymnastics coach for the Soviet national team – he often incorporates movement and the physicality of the human body into his work. In 2015, he co-directed the acclaimed documentary “When the Earth Seems to Be Light,” capturing the inner world of Georgian youth. Earlier in 2024, the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole (MAMC+) hosted his first solo museum exhibition in France.
