The Prometheus Art Center will once again host the 26th edition of the Tbilisi International Film Festival.
The Prometheus Art Center will once again host the 26th edition of the Tbilisi International Film Festival, running from December 1 to 7, with screenings held exclusively at Amirani Cinema. Although the organizers remain committed to their long-standing mission, this year’s festival will take place in a significantly reduced format following the loss of government financial support.

Because of this budget cut, the festival’s lineup has been trimmed. The international competition has been removed, and Industry Days – formerly a key platform for nurturing new Georgian talent and supporting their artistic growth – has been mostly discontinued.
Despite these constraints, audiences can still expect a rich cinematic program. Around forty international films and roughly thirty new Georgian works will be presented. These titles will appear in the festival’s traditional sections, including the European Forum, Made in Germany, French Collection, New Italian Cinema and Georgian Panorama.
The Georgian Panorama jury will highlight outstanding Georgian productions in four categories: feature fiction, feature documentary, short fiction and short documentary. With additional support from the European Union, a special prize will also be awarded for the Best Representation of Human Rights in Georgian Cinema across both fiction and documentary formats.
The festival continues to rely on strong international partnerships. This year’s supporters include the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Goethe-Institut, the French Institute, as well as the embassies of Italy, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Austria. A key highlight of the program is the participation of New Italian Cinema Events (N.I.C.E.), which will introduce a curated showcase of contemporary Italian films.
TBC Concept serves as the festival’s main partner, while Volvo and Rooms Hotel join as event sponsors. Media support is provided by Tabula, Indigo, AT.ge, Formula TV and Radio Fortuna.
In a challenging period for the cultural sphere, the Tbilisi International Film Festival emphasizes its dedication to essential values: human dignity, freedom of expression, democracy, peace and justice. The organizers also publicly align themselves with the ongoing protest movement and call for the immediate release of all prisoners of conscience.
